Lessons focusing on speech sounds, words, and sentences can be selected by age and level of difficulty. If you are working with a hearing healthcare specialist, you can let them track your progress and recommend which lessons to do.
Sound Success is a free app that can be accessed on a computer, iPad, tablet, or phone. A login with Advanced Bionics is required. It provides self-paced practice listening to sentences, paragraphs, and conversations. There are different topics to choose from. You can listen with or without a video, background noise on or off, and choose from several different talkers.
Speech Banana is a free app that is available on iPads and computers. Log-in is required. It's easy to use. Each lesson consists of practice words and a quiz using those words. You have the option to choose a male or female voice and add background noise. The lessons get progressively harder, but can be done in any order. Progress is tracked for each lesson. Available in English and Korean. Lessons are based on lesson plans described by Whitehurst and Monsees in their 1952 book, Auditory Training for the Deaf.
